So I read two articles on Dr. Who just a little bit ago. One was 10 TV characters and why they wouldn't fit as companions for the Doctor, and the other was 10 who would be awesome (according to the author). I didn't agree with all of it. Sometimes fans have unrealistic ideas about the Doctor, and it bugs me. Honestly, to expect that the Doctor only "selects" courageous, non-violent humans is nuts. Leela, for example, was a tribal warrior/huntress from the backwoods of a random planet, and thought nothing of blowing things up. And Romana was another Time Lord –– not sure if she traveled with him because she decided to, or if the Time Lords made that decision. And at one point, towards the very beginning of Doctor Who as a whole, there was a child with him (cannot remember her name...). I do think that Sheldon from Big Bang Theory would be a marvelous choice, though...

Also... I think Sherlock would be an awesome addition to the Tardis... as would Hiro from Heroes...

Wow, lol... I disagree with most of these. Mr Bean would be hilarious, but useless. It would be funny to see, but nowhere near practical. Dr Reed from Scrubs would be an excellent choice. She's hilarious, and has all kinds of eccentricities that would no doubt clash with the doctor to create an interesting dynamic... I just have to ask, Chandler from Friends? Really?...

Hiro from Heroes would be the best though.

I know, right? Another good one would be the adorable guy with the doctorate from Criminal Minds... Dr. Reid? Is that his name? Yes, I will admit, I think he's adorable. *coughs* Anyway....

Hiro would be cool... although I think Peter Petrelli was my favourite from that show –– he has a deep-seated desire to see justice...

Aw, man... I love Criminal Minds... when I'm in the mood for it.

I had a feeling he'd be your favourite... I also like Sylar, in his more angsty moments. Yes, I like a villain... (Perhaps I should start a thread on this?!)

Oh, heavens... that would be... nuts. Marvelous, for sure, if they can get him to solve everything in less than 24 hours, but still nuts!

I like most detective shows, but that one has never appealed to me.

Sylar was quite a character, but he got annoying sometimes.

Yes, solve the case in 24 hours! lol...

Instead of Sherlock, I think Watson would be the better option.

Whaaaaat? I don't know what it is, but I sometimes prefer it. Cold Case depresses me. NCIS is probably one of the better ones, but Criminal Minds... something about it really appeals to me.

Especially when he couldn't make up his mind. I can't tell you how many times I talked to the guy on the screen, as if I were in the same room as him. Really, Gwen, he can't hear you!

There is one problem with that. The same man who plays Watson also played Arthur Dent, who is another "candidate" for this... and being as there's been countless Douglas Adams references in Doctor Who, it would be incredible to see the universe of the Hitchhiker's Guide blended with that of Doctor Who. Really.

I don't know. It might just be because CBS does the worst trailers in the history of television. I was never a fan of Cold Case. CSI hasn't been interesting for like seven years. Castle is good. All writers should watch Castle.

Unf. Right? Just... UGH! It did make me consider villains a bit more deeply, though –– long before I wrote Hendelmere. (but that's for another thread).

I don't think it's restricted to modern shows: a couple of Star Trek characters were mentioned as well. And the picture of Zaphod Beeblebrox was of the old Zaphod, from the TV show (not the movie)...

Castle is about a best selling novelist who helps the N.Y.P.D solve crimes. So there's all kinds of writing references, and stuff while they solve crimes.

Yeah, his stories could be so interesting, or annoying. He was a mixed bag of a character.

I'd love to see someone from a Western... Steve McQueen from Wanted Dead Or Alive...
