What is everyone reading lately? I'll start off...

I'm about 3/4 of the way through "Sufferings in Africa" by Captain James Riley. An American ship gets wrecked off the coast of Africa in 1815, which was still a tense time between Britain and the US. The crew is captured by the locals and sold into slavery. This autobiographical account follows their journey across the Sahara Desert and their redemption.
I would not normally have picked up this book, except that it is tied to family history on my mother's side... but it's growing on me.
Also, among other things, the author uses one of my favourite words at least once: perfidy.

I'm reading Pretties by Scott Westerfeld. When people turn 16, they are made into pretties. All pretties ever do is have fun. Taly has finally been made into a pretty, but she has a nagging sense that something is wrong. After the surgery, her memories of before start to fade away. Then someone from her past shows up with a message,and suddenly she doesn'want to be a pretty anymore.

I've been reading through the Star Wars: X-Wing series. With the release of Mercy Kill, I decided to finally read through the whole series. I'm currently on book 4, The Bacta War.

I think so. There's some decent humor and an interesting premise. Think Top Gun meets Star Wars. If nothing else, it's a fun read.
