I just picked up Defiance today and promptly fell down another MMO hole. So far the game is quite good, a lot better than I was anticipating actually. In particular, the dynamic world events (arkfalls) are ridiculously fun. They tend to attract every player in the immediate vicinity for massive battles and world boss style enemies, all on the fly. In a word, it's awesome.

It also has a superbly deep loot system, with Borderlands-esque numbers of guns, shields, grenades and more. In fact, the game feels quite a bit like a 3rd person Borderlands game, but set in a massive world with thousands of other players. It sort of apes borderlands' elemental effects, skills, loot and more, but does so in the best way possible. I'm only a few hours into the main storyline, but so far I think I like it even more than The Old Republic.

I'm also really looking forward to seeing how the game interacts with the television series after so much hype has been created concerning the dynamic interaction between the two. I suspect the effects on the show will be small with this first season though. In all I think the game is a fantastic step forward to bringing MMO experiences to consoles, and I highly recommend it.

Finally finished Resistance I. Moving on to Resistance II. Man, II is so much more polished!
