I had to quit the vampire diaries. It feels like twilight all over again. At least I gave it a try so I know not to see it again... Vampire series are a tad overrated IMO. I'm one of the few girls who can't get into them. I won't go into detail about what I didn't like, but there were several things in there I strongly disagreed with.

The best vampire show I've seen (at least, the one I liked the most) was Angel. It was created and helmed by Joss Whedon (The guy who made Firefly and Serenity, and Avengers), so it had all kinds of great writing, great characters, and all kinds of excellent dialogue, and all kinds of great action, etc...

I just... felt pressure to like Harry Potter and Vampire series because my sister and friend like them. I figured I could fit in with them if I liked them, but then, I asked myself: Is this really me? The answer is no, I have to be myself, and like something because I want to, not just because someone else does.

I know what you mean. I've tried to like some things that my sister and brother like. And I'm really not picky; I can find entertainment value in most things, but sometimes, I just can't get there...

I like classic vampire stuff. Brahm Stoker's Dracula was super cool, and I liked Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I just don't get the fascination with becoming a vampire, though. In those stories being a vampire is a bad thing, and for the most part, makes you evil. I don't like vampires as the good guys, except maybe in Angel and Spike's case, where it's thoughtfully written.
So much universe, so little time...
