I did wonder that, too... but I guess Icelanders believe in elves, not dwarves... and they aren't the same type of creature as Tolkien's elves, if I gather correctly. They'd be more like Santa's elves, without Santa and without Christmas... but that is a guess. At any rate, it's amusing to think that a *modern* people still clings to the old, old beliefs...
