I bought the first half of series 7 on iTunes, and caught everything but the finale on BBCA. Luckily my cousin caught the last episode on DVR so I was able to see it.

My speculation comes from a line that I think Eccleson spoke (it might have been Tennant). When he first regenerates he makes some sort of comment about still being a guy, indicating it's possible (maybe?) for him to regenerate as a woman. There's no concrete evidence for it though. I just think it would be a fun change of pace for the dynamic of the series.

Yeah, I've been wanting to see a female doctor for a while...but I am not so fond of Moffat and the way he writes women.

Apparently, you've never seen Sweeney Todd... which is the weirdest musical I have ever seen. So yes, that sort of genre has been used for musicals before...
